Research and Development
SangGuan You obtained a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries Resource Development at the Kangnung National University, Master of Science in Food Biotechnology at the Korea University, Seoul, Korea in1999 and Doctorate of Philosophy in Food Science at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada in 2005.
Dr. You worked as a research associate at the University of Manitoba from 2004-2006. He was editor for Preventive Nutrition and Food Science, and Journal of Chitin and Chitosan, editorial board member for the Bioactive Carbohydrates and Dietary Fibre Journal, from 2016 and 2018 and director at the Research Institute of Scientific Instruments and East Coast Life Sciences Institute at Gangneung-Wonju National University.
Dr. You's research includes elucidation of molecular, rheological and biological properties (in vitro & in vivo) of polysaccharides from various origins including marine seaweeds, mushrooms and starches, development and optimization of an analytical technique to improve the separation of biopolymers using SEC-MALS and RI detector, GC-MS and 2D-NMR, preparation of conjugates using anti-cancer drug delivery system, improvement of the biological activities, and the applications of various drugs.
